This Arkansas Stone Set includes a Soft, Hard and Black Arkansas stone.
The Soft Arkansas is used to repair badly worn or damaged edges. The Hard Arkansas is an all-purpose stone and is suitable for many everyday sharpening tasks. The Black Arkansas is an extra-fine stone and was traditionally used to sharpen dental tools, surgeons scalpels and straight razors.
The Arkansas stones mounted on a wood base are the same quality stone as the one offered in the wood boxes. The difference is this stone is permanently glued to a wood base.
The wood base helps hold the stone in place while sharpening and also raises the stone off the table to provide the proper knuckle clearance needed for sharpening.
